Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
If you earned less than $73,000 in 2023 you may be eligible for assistance with preparing and filing your taxes. you can get help in-person or prepare taxes virtually through a secure, encrypted, IRS-approved website: www.getyourrefund.org/HHS-CT

Hamden VITA In-person tax prep:
- Hamden High School (2040 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT 06514)
- Hours: Mon and Wed, 5-7:30 pm, and Sat, 10 am- 1:30 pm
- Open Jan 22 — April 15 (except for Feb 19, Feb 20, April 10 and Hamden High School weather closures)
- No appointment necessary
- First come first served.
For Drop-off Service:
- Fill out the intake form at the high school during VITA hours.
- Leave the completed form along with your tax documents with the VITA greeter
- Come back a week later to sign your documents.
Quinnipiac VITA Hamden location:
- M.L. Keefe Community Center (11 Pine St. Hamden, CT 06514)

Videoconferencing The CT DRS offers remote assistance by videoconference. Taxpayers can schedule an appointment to receive DRS tax assistance from a trained DRS professional during normal business hours. To schedule an appointment, contact the DRS Taxpayer Service Center at 860-297-5770 (you may leave a voicemail). Taxpayers should be prepared with the pertinent tax information before contacting DRS to ensure an efficient and effective customer service outcome. This videoconferencing option is also available to a taxpayer's authorized representative.
